I want to take this time to wish you a Merry Christmas from God Squad Canada. I want to also thank you for your generous support and prayers in 2009. We have a renewed calling to continue our work and possibly do more to reach the men of our society. There are still many “lost boys” that need to hear the challenge of being a Godly man.
We are entering the time of Christmas and we reflect on our role model, St. Joseph. The fear he must have felt as he had to hit the road with his expectant wife must have been overwhelming. He was desperately trying to seek decent accommodations only to end up in a cave. What was going through his mind? Did he feel like a failure as a husband and a foster father? Yet with all these feelings and doubts he stayed on his course and comforted Mary. He was rewarded with the first sight of the Saviour which was later described by Simeon when he saw the infant Jesus and said, “for mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to thy people Israel.”
So next time you are feeling inadequate as a husband and a father remember you have a powerful ally in St. Joseph. The God Squad wants to be the backup unit in 2010 to assist men in their battle to become humble, holy, heroes to their families.
See you on March 12 & 13 at the next God Squad Men’s conference.
